Our client is an established environmental consultancy with staff based in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Bristol servicing the onshore renewables and rural development sector.  

Small in stature yet big in ability, they are specialists in hydrology, hydrogeology, peat, and carbon assessments and expand their offering in this sector by working with a wider network of specialists.

The Role - Senior Environmental Consultant 

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Consultant, ideally with experience in hydrology, hydrogeology, or geology assessments, to join the team.  

Work ethic, flexible working opportunities and mentoring, as a small team you will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the projects. 

The position offers an opportunity to take on a key role in the group where you can make a real difference and help shape the success and direction of the company.   

You will be involved in managing staff, liaising with clients, budget control, project deliverables, proposals and supporting the wider team. 

The position is home based however staff regularly work together in other working spaces. 

 

Essential Attributes 

  • You will have experience in multi-discipline EIA report preparation for one or more of the following: water and soils environment, hydrological and hydrogeological assessments for different types of rural developments, private and public water supply assessment or GWDTE (Ground Water Dependent Terrestrial Ecosystems)  
  • A degree, or post graduate qualification, in a water or environmental related discipline. 
  • Solid report writing skills with attention to detail and a pragmatic approach to potential issues with a ‘can do’ attitude to helping clients. 
  • Comfortable with fieldwork in Scotland, and other parts of the UK, on remote and rural sites throughout the year. 
  • Using mapping and field equipment to identify the relevant issues and constraints on site and transfer this information into GIS and reports. 
  • Confidence in dealing with clients, regulators, and members of the public both in meetings and on site. 
  • Experience of budget and financial control of projects. 
  • A good understanding of environmental legislation for the water environment.  
  • A Full UK driving licence and eligible to work in the UK. 

 

Desirable Attributes  

  • A good understanding of environmental legislation for peat and EIA report preparation for peat assessments including peat management plans and peat restoration. 
  • Any other relevant training – CSCS, first aid, 4x4 
  • Chartered status or demonstrate you are working towards this status. 
  • Knowledge of other UK planning systems

  • Salary £50,000 DOE
  • Flexible working hours to enable you to work around other personal commitments and either full or part-time working. 
  • 25 days annual leave per year plus bank holidays.
