Senior Consultant - Ecologist

What will you be doing? 

You will be joining the highly respected team to support in the delivery of a variety of environmental and nature-based engineering projects.   

This will be an incredible development opportunity for an individual in their early career to work in a multi-disciplinary consultancy to continue their professional development.  

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Undertaking/supporting ecology survey work  
  • Supporting or overseeing the delivery of EcIA and stand-alone ecological assessments, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs), biodiversity strategies and other documents  
  • Authoring ecology assessment reports and technical chapters. 
  • Interest of particular plant or animal groups and appropriate field survey skills 
  • Preparing/managing protected species licence applications  
  • Preparing scopes of work and costs for input to proposals 
  • Assisting in delivery of other related environmental assessments, commensurate with experience and technical understanding. 
  • Contributing to business development in the form of client meetings, networking events, conferences and seminars. 

 

Key Competencies 

  • Conservation-minded ecologists with a passion for wildlife and the environment working in ecology between 2 - 6 years+  
  • A degree in ecology or a related subject and post-graduation experience in ecology  
  • Experience in a range of habitat and field surveys, analysing and interpreting data and writing professional reports 
  • A good understanding of the planning process and of appropriate mitigation strategies 
  • Demonstrable team and independent working skills 
  • Membership of CIEEM 
  • Hold a UK driving licence, be prepared to travel to different sites and to work ecology survey hours.
